Hi all! I have been crafting my school list and am wondering how many schools I should apply to on AMCAS. I am a traditional, ORM originally from CA, but go to a private school in TX and have residency in TX. I plan on applying to all schools in TMDSAS, as well as in California, but I am wondering if I should apply to more. I hear schools are not very OOS-friendly for TX residents. However, if I get into a school in Texas, I will probably go because of the cheap tuition. What are my chances this cycle?
Thanks in advance!
1. sGPA: 3.94, cGPA: 3.97

120 Hours Hospital Volunteering
25 Hours Surgical Patient Mentor (MME, mentor for teens who are going to get surgery, same surgery I got in high school, give tips and advice, share experience with them to ease fears, mentored about 8 patients over 3 years)
7. Research:
2 Years / 600 Hours Organic Synthesis Laboratory (team leader for undergraduate group of about 15 students, moderate presentations and mentor younger students)

300 Hours this Summer in Anesthesiology Research in TX medical school
8. 65 Hours Shadowing (Pediatric Surgery, Pediatrics, Cardiology)

12. Languages (Japanese, Chinese, Cantonese) and Cooking are very important to me
LORs: From pediatric surgeon whom helped with my condition/inspired me to pursue medicine/shadowed, Research PI (known for 2 years, should be good), Japanese Professor (known for 3 years, should be very good, speak to my unique way of thinking and empathy), Biochem professor (got an A in her class, but probably an mediocre LOR)
