Hey guys, just hoping to get some feedback on my school list and some insight into how my cycle might go. Already submitted both applications but haven't added any schools to AMCAS other than the University of Washington.

  1. GPA: cGPA: 3.85 sGPA: 3.9 (would be 4.0 for both but those dang dual enrollment classes in high school)
  2. MCAT score: 518 (129,130,129,130)
  3. State of residence: ID, born and graduated high school in AZ, lived in CA for a year
  4. Ethnicity and/or race- White
  5. Undergraduate institution or category- BYU-I
  6. Clinical experience: Medical assistant at pain clinic for 1 year full time, ophthalmic technician 2 years part time, 3000 hours.
  7. Research experience and productivity: 180 hours pain research, no pubs or presentations
  8. Shadowing experience: 36 hours family medicine MD, 70 hours ophthalmology MD
  9. Non-clinical volunteering:
    1. nonprofit soccer league manager (ran the whole shebang): 120 hours
    2. Youth soccer coach: 78 hours
    3. Community English class teacher: 134 hours (taught to Mexican immigrants mostly)
    4. Food bank volunteer: 110 hours
  10. Other extracurricular activities:
    1. Put an LDS mission in CA into the other category
    2. Gen Chem TA, 126 hours
  11. Relevant honors or awards: nada
  12. Anything else not listed you think might be important:
    1. speak Spanish
    2. Put a few hobbies down (music, hiking)
    3. Applied to all Texas MD schools just cause it seems like there might be a chance, and it's pretty cheap, would prefer to stay on the West Coast, but not opposed to anything in particular.
    4. two science LORs, 2 MDs, 1 from owner of the soccer league (no PI letter)

What is your mission as a physician? Other than your 2-year mission, service orientation activities feel light.
Most of my activities and work experiences have been centered around serving rural populations (and Hispanic), plus being from an area just like those I’m aiming to practice in places without a large healthcare presence. Not sure if I answered your question too well though haha.
