  • GPA: I attended a college without grades, but took a number of classes at other institutions with grades so have a partial GPA of 3.38 (all science), however I have used AMCAS to apply in a previous cycle and my calculated GPA is 4.0 (all undergrad courses voided, included graded ones, and one post-bacc A gives me the 4.0)
  • Last MCAT - 509 (126/129/126/128), retaking next month
  • CA/MA resident
  • ORM
  • Undergrad @ Hampshire College (private small liberal arts in MA)
  • Clinical experience: 2500hr EMT-Covid Tester, 1700hr Covid Response Team Supervisor (2000+ more supervisor/EMT expected by matriculation)
  • Research experience: 2100hr undergrad research assistant/lab manager; 4000hr post-grad research assistant; 1 first author presentation, 3 first and second author posters at national conferences
  • Non-clinical volunteering: 400hr
  • Other extracurriculars: Student teaching (100hr); Undergrad work study job (350hr); Collegiate Equestrian team member/co-captain (450hr)
  • 1 4-year merit scholarship and 2 research grants from my college
I'm a nontrad applicant, I've been out of college for 4 years, of which I spent 2 years in a neuroscience lab and 2 years and counting as an EMT/Covid Testing supervisor. My GPA is tricky to calculate as I attended an undergrad university without grades but did take a number of undergrad and post-bacc classes, so the most conservative estimate of my GPA is 3.38. I applied during the 2019-2020 cycle for MD-PhD only, got no acceptances and decided to take some time to reevaluate and revamp my application. My most recent MCAT was 509, but my score has expired so I will be taking it again in May and am expecting a similar or slightly higher score. This time around I am scrapping the MD-PhD plan and am going to apply broadly to DO and MD programs. I'm hoping for guidance on schools to apply to, and any areas of my application that still need help. Thanks in advance!

Most likely as a CA resident, unless there's any benefit to applying as an MA resident

Thank you!! I will definitely update this thread once my new MCAT scores are here.

@Faha Updated MCAT score is 509 (126/130/125/128). Any help with an MD school list would be much appreciated!

In addition to the DO schools listed above, you could try these MD schools:
Vermont
Quinnipiac
Albany
New York Medical College
Hackensack
Drexel
Temple
Penn State
George Washington
Eastern Virginia
Wake Forest
NOVA MD
Tulane
TCU-UNT
Creighton
Rush
Loyola
Oakland Beaumont
Wayne State
Medical College Wisconsin
California University
UC Davis
UC Irvine
UC Riverside (if you are from that region)

Thanks so much!! I am not from the Riverside area but my sister and uncle both live in the LA/San Bernardino area and I spend a decent amount of time down that way, would that count as ties to the area?
