I would really like to apply to research heavy schools as I have a lot of research experience and want to have a career in academic medicine (not MD/PhD). Programs like Case Western's 5-year Lerner COM program would be great.

Thank you!

What is new from your app last year, other than the MCAT increase (congrats btw)?

Also, is any of your clinical research coordinator work patient-facing (and thus potentially could be filed under clinical experience)? The only glaring deficiency is that you're clearly on the lower end of clinical exposure.

Good list. I think you’ll get into at least one school

Maybe add
Hackensack
Oakland
Wayne
Creighton
Quinnipiac
Albany
NYMC
Temple

Thank you for your response and the congratulations

New this year:
MCAT Increase, 1 year full-time research coordinator + upcoming publications, great LOR from my PI + another neurosurgeon, additional non-clinical volunteering hours.

I wouldn't say my work as a RC is patient-facing. I sometimes collect samples from the OR and consent patients but mainly am behind the scenes. My last job as a research assistant was in a level 1 trauma center and I interacted with physicians/nurses/paramedics all day but did not interact much with patients.

I also think you'll get into at least one school, and your current list is solid. But definitely keep working on increasing your clinical exposure so you have something to talk about in interviews.

I suggest these schools from your list:
