Hi! I am a black woman applying to medical school next cycle! I went to a top liberal arts school and am from the east coast. What are my chances of getting into any of the private nyc schools? would also appreciate any other school reccs !

3 days for camp and around 50 hours so far for homeless care center!
Thank you for commenting- because I think these actually might go under non-clinical volunteering because not much of what I did was medically related .. and that feels like an important distinction!

You can do some networking, especially with SNMA and other organizations that mentor Black future physicians, especially if you are looking for NYC area schools.

I would not be so sanguine, unless you are saying that she is pack fodder for top 20 schools. URM status is considered to be worth something like 7 LizzyM points...a 3.8/518 with her stats and ECs but not URM is not a platinum-grade rock star that will be rolling in T20 acceptances.

I would say that OP has a shot at NYC private schools but that it is a crapshoot.

I would say that she has a shot at an interview just about anywhere and the result will depend on factors not accessible to us in this forum.

I will agree with you here. I was in shoes very like hers (except with a 519); I was not rolling in interviews for top-20 schools. I was, like her, pack fodder at these places, not a strong candidate for Harvard or Yale.
