Hi everyone! I am reapplying this upcoming as a second time applicant. I previously only applied to my IS school (Auburn) last cycle. I received an interview, but was rejected after the interview. I have an application review scheduled but it is not for another month, so I could really use some advice on where to improve my application in the meantime!
Information from this past cycle per VMCAS:
Cumulative GPA: 3.68
Science GPA: 3.42
Last 45 GPA: 3.62
*At the time, I had all of my pre-reqs complete except Animal Nutrition.
Degrees Held: At time of interview, I was two months away from finishing my Bachelor of Arts in Biology (I have since completed as of May 2022)

Animal Experience (no Veterinarian Involved): 3,268 hrs

*I have an interest in being a Mixed Animal Vet and wrote about this in my personal essay as well as growing up on a farm (goats, horses, dogs, cats, rabbits, etc.)
Extracurricular Activities: 3,5285 hrs
High School
-4-H, Guitar/Piano Playing, FFA, Beta Club, Volleyball Team (all of these activities I did all four years of high school

Leadership in Undergrad
I listed my leadership for undergrad in the achievement section of my application. For my high school leadership I just wrote it in the description.
Research: 3 hrs
-Hemp Research
*Not sure if I should include this for this upcoming cycle due to the low amount of hours. Any advice?
Employment (Not Animal Related): 322 hrs
-Community Hall Assistant for a resident hall at my college
-Intern at Pediatric Dentistry Office
Achievements:
-Deans List (all semesters)
-Sophomore of the Year for my sorority
- First place rider at multiple horse shows
-Trustee’s Scholarship
-Kentucky Governor’s Scholar
-Valedictorian of my High School
-Homecoming Queen for my High School
-Director of Membership for my sorority
-Vice President of Equestrian Team
What would you all suggest I do to improve more for this upcoming cycle? I was considering getting my MBA because I could complete the degree online in a year before I started vet school if I were to get accepted this next cycle. Do you think this would be a good idea? Would it help/hurt me? I also plan on working at a vet clinic to gain more hours as of right now. Is there anything else I could do to improve my application further? My interview went very well, in my opinion, so I am not sure what went wrong/where I need to focus the most. I know I could improve on my vet hours. I switched from pre-dental at the end of my junior year, so I was only able to get around 600 hours from March to September before I submitted my application. I had job shadowed previously in high school at a vet clinic but only received about 100 hours there. Do you think this hurt my chances? I also have two W’s on my transcript (one from my first semester of college and the other from my third semester) and received a B in both courses when I took them again. I also received a D in organic chem 1 when the pandemic first hit and had a difficult time transitioning to an online format. I took it the following semester and got an A. I also received a C in Biochemistry, but I have received A/B’s in all my other classes. Do you think any of these things severely impacted their decision?
Any advice would be much appreciated.
