Hi! I am 22F. I am from Pennsylvania. This past cycle I applied to: UPenn (waitlisted for interview and then rejected), Ohio State (rejected), Michigan State (rejected), and VMCVM (interviewed and then rejected). For the next cycle, I am planning on applying to those and more. Any advice is very much appreciated!

I am looking for some advice on how I can improve my application. I am planning on getting more volunteer (not animal related) hours in the next 7 months and applying for a veterinary internship at a local aviary.

My suggestion would be to keep trying to diversify your vet/animal hours as those will help you stand out (the aviary veterinary internship would be great for this!).
Something that stood out to me looking over this is I don't see any leadership and I'm not seeing many extracurriculars that you did in college. I know you mentioned getting some volunteer experience outside of vet med and that will certainly help. Do you have other leadership/extracurricular experience from high school or college you can include in your application? It does not have to be vet med related (and honestly, it would be preferable if it wasn't - vet schools like well rounded applicants). I'm thinking things like band/sports, club leadership, 4H, FFA, hobby clubs, honor societies, etc. Any and all of it would be great to include in your app.
Other than those things, make sure to spend some time on your essays and have people you trust read over them to make them shine!

Off topic but I also graduated from Penn State in May 2024 👀 I was a VBSC major!

Michigan state didn’t reject you for GPA, so did you apply without fulfilling all the science prerequisites?

The lack of leadership/extracurricular experience also stood out to me as I was writing everything down. Thank you for your suggestions!
