I'm planning on applying to all the Texas MD schools and hopefully looking for a few recommendations based on my app to other out of state schools. Mainly hoping to stay in Texas but am fine anywhere else. Here is my background!

1. cGPA =3.91 and sGPA = 3.86 as calculated by TMDSAS. (3.85 and 3.79 AMCAS)
2. MCAT: 511
3. Texas Resident
4. Asian
5. mid ranked public school
6. 1.5 Years of Medical assistant, ongoing activity (1200+ hours). 120 hours of hospice volunteering
7. Research in the same lab for 3 years (1100+ hours, 1 2nd author publication to an alright journal)
8. 60 hours of total shadowing between 4 specialities
9. Non-clinical volunteering: 300 hours at the hospital (did not interact with patients)
10. Other extracurricular activities: Fraternity, TA for neuro class, Physics tutor, mentor program for kids
11. Traditional applicant

Please let me know what your inputs are on my chances to Texas school, and any potential out of state schools. I appreciate the advice!

AAMC lists it as a preprofessional competency. It's the first one listed, either by coincidence or intentionally. Read it for what you will.
