Don’t really know your chances for Sydney, but I did want to make sure you realized that the semester for USyd would be starting before you’d likely even find out if you were accepted into most any US school. Illinois doesn’t interview until February (which you may have a decent shot at getting an interview there) and you’d already be in Australia to start school before their interviews even happened.
Just thought it was worth mentioning because there were a few people on here last year that didn’t realize they were applying to start this coming winter and not at the same time as US schools.

You're relatively solid for Illinois, especially if some of that last 45 GPA is science. A friend of mine had a cGPA of 2.8 or 2.9, but a 4.0 junior and senior year (so last 60 credits) after figuring out what her issues were. If your case is similar, yoyr reinvention shown with your last-45 will help tremendously.

Your research being unpublished is a non-concern; the fact you have any is pretty solid.

Yes I am aware of that🙂 Sydney is my top choice so if I get in there(they normally let people know around November) I’d have to withdraw my other apps. Thank you! 🙂
