MCAT 504 = 127/121/127/129

~400 hrs science tutor
~400 hrs community service volunteer

What schools should I apply to?

Thanks in advance! All help is greatly appreciated!

Your GPAs are gonna hurt you a bit. I’d apply broadly to strictly DO schools. I’d send some into the more established DOs like pcom, kcu, unecom, NYITCOM, etc. but also apply to some newer schools like ACOM if you’re okay with them.

Did you mean ACOM as Arkansas College of Osteopathic Medicine? And where can I get the information about these newer schools? Thank you!

I meant Alabama college of osteopathic, which while a new school is pretty reputable. Basically, you’ll likely be best served with a broad application. The best way to research these schools is searching them on this site or on their own pages IMO.

Are you ORM?
Apply broadly and you should get multiple II's
I'd stay away from VCOM (too low of GPA), and the top 3 - PCOM, CCOM, MSUCOM (stats aren't high enough)

Fine for any DO school.
SUNYs are worth taking a crack at as well.
Many thanks for your service to our country!

Thank you! I am asian. So I guess I am ORM. Do I need to worry about that?

Nahh not really but contrary to Goro, being ORM and having very average stats for DO, I don't think you are fine for ANY DO school.
Like I said apply to 15+ schools, and avoid the top 3 programs and you should be good to go.

On second thought...
Another cause for concern is that your masters GPA is low-ish as well
Undergrad GPA is forgivable, but beyond that you should be showing a 3.6+ GPA

As I said earlier, def apply ASAP if you haven't, and broadly (15-20) schools
Make sure you are ready to crush any possible II opportunities

My GPA suffered when I just started my Master's degree as an international student in US, but it has an upward trend after first semester. Yes I am definitely taking your advice. Do you happen to know where could we find materials to prepare for secondaries? Thank you so much!

I do not, sorry

What do you mean by materials? If you wish to pre-write secondaries, use the 2017-2018 ones found on sdn. Mind you, they may change. Luckily I have found that most schools don’t even bother submitting new prompts

Yes I plan to pre-write them. And I think I found the post that you are talking about - "Alphabetical Index of School-Specific Threads". I only took a glimpse for now, but it seems like many questions are pretty common, such as "why are you a good fit" "how you contribute to diversity". Thank you!

You said MSUCOM's stats are too high. Aren't their stat lines 3.5-3.7 cumulative? So a 3.4 won't be so far fetched, would it?
