Hello guys I need some advice as I'm very worried. I'm planning on taking DAT around this summer. My GPA is 3.96. I have anthropology major with 2 minors: Physical Science and Asian American Studies and a South East Asian certificate.
Volunteering: 250+ hrs
Shadowing: 30+( I plan to get more)
My schools that I plan to apply are:

California North State
University of Southern California
Loma Linda
Western university dental
UCSF
University of the Pacific
UCLA
Howard University
UIC
Midwestern University Illinois
SIU
Oregon health and science university
UW

My top preferences are in California since I'm an in state resident. I'm worried that my DAT may bring down my chances to get accepted to any of these schools
WAMC?

Does these school list out of reach or do you guys have other recommendations? I only ever received one B which was a Statistic Math class.

What is your sgpa? To be honest schools dont care too much about overall gpa, they are more concerned with how you performed in your science classes. If you got an A in all your science classes, you shouldnt be too worried about the DAT. Study hard and you will be fine. I was a B student in my science classes and was still able to do well on the DAT. Are you an URM (minority other than Asian?) If not, I would remove Howard from the list. Someone will know more about SIU, but i think they are a mostly in-state school. Other than that, I thing your school list looks good! Do well on the DAT and you will have your pick of schools. To give you a reference, I knew a student in my undergrad who got into UoP with a 3.7 sgpa and 21 DAT. So shoot for a 20+!

Thanks! Yea ur right. I'm an South Asian. So I will remove Howard. I put illinois because I used to reside there. Now I'm a cali state. My science gpa is fine but I'm not sure if math gpa is science? I got a B in statistics in the first year of college, second semester. Does have a different major with 2 minors help my case and make me look diverse or does it hurt since I'm not a science major?? Thanks

No bets without a DAT score. The BCP GPA would not include math but science GPA would. Different schools weigh each of these differently. How many upper level biomedical science classes have you taken?

The hours of shadowing seem a little low...

I wouldnt stress over one B or the different majors...at the end of the day. If you get a sold DAT score, you will have your pick of schools

UIC only takes 2 OOS. Its a far stretch to consider if you’re not currently a resident. Even if you lived there before, you’d still be out of state.

Okay I understand. I took all course pretty reqs: anatomy and phys. Bio chem. Plan on taking genetics and microbio. But mostly have As except that one B that's weighing me down.

Hey! One B is not going to hold you back, I promise lol. If you fall short somewhere, it won't be because you have a B in Statistics.

It’s hard to give you an exact answer because a lot goes into an acceptance. But focus on getting your shadowing up to at least 100 hours and do well on the DAT. You’ll be fine

For chances, I think you really need a DAT score in hand for us to be able to give you our thoughts on your app. As it stands, I think UCSF/UCLA would be reaches unless you can prove you have a solid science background via your DAT (23AA/TS+). Def need to get your shadowing hours above 100 but I'm not sure how you can do that with the whole COVID situation going on.... I think it may hurt you because applicants should show commitment to the field, so I personally would've expected more hours in the time before COVID started/Jan 2020 ish. Any reason why it's pretty low?

You also got good advice in your thread from a few months ago: WAMC? Okayish gpa and low dat?
