Hey guys, this is my first time posting on SDN. I am from NYC and my top choices for veterinary school are Washington State and Cornell. I really want to go to Washington State though. I want to be a large animal veterinarian, or mixed practice. Not sure if I want to specialize yet. Anyway, here are my stats... let me know what you think I should improve on/what you think. Thank you!

Cumulative GPA: 3.608
science GPA: 3.376

last 45: approximately 3.854

Fall 2021: ?, will be taking 15 credits.
Summer 2021: ?, will be taking 6 credits.

Spring 2021: 4.0, 19 credits
Fall 2020: 3.850, 14 credits
Summer 2020: 3.70, 7 credits
Spring 2020: 3.866, 15 credits

Any degrees achieved

- Spring 2022 I will have a Cell and Molecular Biology B.S

GRE results: Q/V/W
I plan on retaking the GRE, didn't try (especially on the writing, I basically wrote a couple of sentences and skipped it).
144/146/2

Veterinary Experience:
- Veterinary assistant (same as employment, approx. 720 hours as of now, likely to be 900-1,000 upon submitting application.)

Animal Experience:
- Stable Volunteer, approx. 20 hours as of now, likely to be 60-100 upon submitting application.
- Animal Caretaker/sitter, approx. 1,000 hours.

Research Experience:
- I'm doing research in the fall, which is technically after the application is submitted. Not sure if that counts...

Awards/scholarships:
- Full time Deans list three semesters straight.
- STEM scholarship 2x.

Extracurriculars:
- None

Employment:
-
Veterinary Assistant, approx. 720 hours as of now, likely to be 900-1,000 upon submitting application.
- Waitress, approx. 3,000 hours+, I did it for 5 years).

WSU is extremely difficult to get into OOS to the Pullman campus, Logan not as bad since you can't switch residency. Overall your cum GPA was about what mine was, but I had an extremely different application going in than you so it's hard to say! They do like to see EVERYTHING. Like kyaking? add it. Hike? add it too. They really like versatile applicants so get involved in anything you can. I don't believe WSU is considering GRE this cycle. We also have a new director for admissions so things might be slightly changing in relation to their admissions formula but I wouldn't imagine much. Depending on what your vet assistant experience is I would be careful in wording you want to be large or mixed especially if you don't have the experience to back it. I also don't believe you can add experience you're anticipating to the VMCAS. You may also want to consider Mizzou since it'd be your 3rd cheapest option. Goodluck and I'd be happy to answer any WSU specific questions you may have-just send me a pm! (I may be slow to respond because 4th year)

Thank you for responding. That was really helpful, especially with the animal specialties. I was unsure on whether I should put large animal, even though I am definitely interested, I feel that they probably do not want to see that if I don't have the experience. Maybe I'll play it safe. Btw, how did your application differ from mine?

Dont get hung up on how my application was especially because that was 4 years and each application cycle is different. Your goals ambitions are probably alot different than mine and focusing on your strengths and how to make you shine as an applicant is what's important.
When I applied We had the gre. We had the short essays not the long one. Overall I had tons of entries in all the categories because I knew I was on the vet track from an early age. If you go to successful applicants thread for c/o 2022 I think my stats are posted back there if you're interested.
