Hey,

I have been accepted into UNC and I am 95% sure I will attend UNC. I want to meet or talk to those who will be attending UNC this August. If you don't mind, PM me or just tell me a little about yourself on the forum. Thanks!! 😳

Your question remind me the dating chat room question, anyway, I am 21, Female (obvious from my name) and I live in Chapel Hill North Carolina.

Welcome to you both. You have made a very good choice. See you in August.

Do you teach for kaplan?????

No, I don't teach Kaplan. What gave you that idea?

My Kaplan teacher was a Justin, and since he was teaching kaplan i would hope he got into UNC. He only applied to Nova and UNC.

I will be attending UNC in the fall. Age 23, undergrad degree from Spelman College, currently finishing a post-bac at Southern Illinois University, Carbondale Illinois. I am from Richmond, VA.
This does sorta sound like a dating ad

look up the admission stats on unc's website

2009

gpa around 3.6
sci gpa around 3.55
dat 20

Took me two tries, but I got an acceptance in december this year. The GPAs listed on the website are probably skewed by the insanely high marks most out-of-staters come in with. Even so, it's still pretty difficult to get into...as I mentioned on another thread, 1/3 of the current students applied more than once.

I'm not so sure about that 1/3 applied more than once. I don't know of any of my classmates who did, though I'm sure there are some who just haven't mentioned it. Also, I don't think the GPA is really all that skewed. My class is insanely talented- we have performed better in almost every class than any has before. Of course, everyone is talented in different ways, but I am regularly impressed with each person in the class. Anyway, that being said, congrats to you all for getting in. Relax as much as you can now- it gets going real hard, real fast. See you next fall!

I can't verify that statistic, obviously, but was told that by one of the 2nd years during the friday night social. My guess is that it's pretty darn close. During some volunteering work, I've been fortunate enough to meet quite a few 2nd and 3rd year students. It always amazed me at the percentage who had reapplied. I'm probably a bit more sensitive to it considering I was in the same boat, though.

Sorta off topic, but I've been dying to ask this for a while...

Does anyone know if we and/or our families get free dental care as students at UNC? I've heard differing opinions lately and was curious if a current student can be definitive.

From my 4th year perspective, you and/or your families can get into the system pretty quick (whereas most people have to wait anywhere from 1-6 months), but you have to pay for it just like everyone else for the most part. Oh, and I'd estimate about 15% of the entering class is re-apps...just my observations from sitting on the admissions committee.

Hey ninja, are you in CH1? If so, congrats. If not, still congrats...I just don't know who you are. 🙂

See you all in your G&D/ortho seminars.

Don't know what CH1 stands for (Chapel Hill 1??) but if it helps, I am finishing my undergrad and will be attending UNC dental school, class of 2010 !
