Hey guys,

Well, I decided to enroll at the University of Pennsylvania and am thinking very hard about entering dentistry (or medicine). I am in a dual degree program at Penn where I get a biological basis of behavior degree from the CAS and an econ degree from Wharton. Plus, the school hooks me up with two good internships (one business and one science). However, I am paying 25k a year to attend Penn. So, will being in this program at Penn give my potential dental/med app a boost? Moreover, are the business skills learned at Wharton vital (or almost vital) to being successful as a private practice dentist?

Thanks,
Robbie

If you want to learn and do well in undergrad, stay at Penn and work hard and itll be worth the money. Its a great school and the education you will receive there is next to none. A business degree is not vital to opening a successful private practice, and most of the stuff you learn in undergrad business classes will teach you more about what makes the economy go around than teach you how to open a successful business.

If you just want to get done with undergrad so that you can get into at least one dental school, go to a community college or a very easy university and pad up your GPA as much as you can in 2 years to give yourself a nice cushion, then transfer to a university and complete a BS and your reqs.

its all a numbers game and schools dont care if you went to harvard or joe's college shack as long as its accredited.
