For any of you out there that are residents and/or practicing psychiatrists, was it what you thought it would be? When you thought about practicing psych before you even started med school (if you did), has the real deal been as you thought it would be? Better, worse, or whatever? I am just curious if, when you really really want to pursue psych, then you do, if you are as happy as you thought you'd be, or if it's the other way around. I just can't imagine doing anything else, so I am curious if anyone wished they would have.

I agree with OPD, it's even better than you think it's gonna be. Sure, there are some periods in residency (inpatient for me), when you're not doing your favorite thing in the world, but even then I couldn't imagine doing anything else. I love going to work (almost) every day.

Funny you should ask, because I was just thinking today how much I enjoy what I'm doing right now (my internship year inpatient rotation). I can't imagine a more interesting job out there.

That is so exciting and encouraging. Thanks, I can't wait 😀
