Hello everyone! I really really need your advice.

I am an international student who received acceptance from Wash U and Duke DPT. I know both of the schools are top schools and have outstanding student outcomes. As an international student, I not only care about school things but a lot about living conditions.

Regarding Wash U, I think the only problems that I am concerned about are the public safety issues (the most dangerous cities in the US? sounds stupid, but there are huge numbers of articles about it. Since I don't live in America, I am not sure about whether it is true.) and the weather(snowstorm, tornado). But, all the other things about Wash U are attractive to me.

Regarding Duke, I think it is much more expensive than Wash U (the top issue, though I have to loan for both schools and the differences seem to be not significant?). Maybe a little bit less renowned than Wash U? (IDK, rank 1 vs rank 7) But, Duke seems to be safer and the weather is similar to my home country.

What do you think are the pros and cons of these two programs?
I appreciate any details about the two programs and the two cities where they locate. Academic environments, living expenses, safety, anything would be great.

If it's not too late, I can offer some insight into WashU. I currently go there for undergrad and I'd say as long as you're not careless, it's not that unsafe. The DPT program is on the med campus, which is only a couple miles away from the undergrad campus and neither are actually IN downtown (where you would expect more crimes/danger). There are plenty of med students at the med campus (PT, OT, med, pharmacy, etc.) and healthcare professionals so during the day it should be fine. The only things I've ever been worried about at WashU is walking home alone when it's dark, carjacking, and accidentally leaving my door/windows unlocked (I've only heard of WashU crime reports if those were accidentally left open, never breaking and entering). Lmk if you want more info!
