Hi, I just got my acceptance to their postbacc program (for academic enhancement). I was wondering how successful is this program in helping people achieve their goals. How are their classes like (especially the evening class)? The tuition seems very steep, so I don't know how to finance for it. Did they give you any grant/scholarship?

I'm wondering if you have a link to this program just for curiousity sake. I only know of their pre-med program which is pretty standard as a formal pre-med post bacc for non-traditionals and I cannot find it in skimming the WashU website. I can see some "upper division sci. courses" offered in immunology, human anatomy, biochemistry etc. but it seems to be apart of their special pre-med program that their students can take if they choose to in addition to the pre-reqs.

Thanks for the link. The website it quite general and lacks detail. I just simply want to know other people's experiences/insights through the program. How good is the support system/Things that I should know or watch out for while I'm there/etc. I guess Wash U post bacc is relatively new, so it's not much known and popular w/in the SDN community. Their med school on the other hand....

I wonder how the classes are? I get the impression that since it's WashU, it's very difficult and competitive.

I thought the same. But I heard their evening classes aren't too bad. I checked on the bio classes for Fall semester, and I can't find any of the professors on ratemyprofessors.com. So, I'm not sure about their teaching quality or even if they're professors. It'll be extremely helpful people who attending/attended Wash U's postbacc to share their experiences. I need to give the admission committee an answer whether I accept their acceptance or not by the 12th!

I was browsing through the info for evening classes, and I did recognize the name of a daytime chemistry prof. who is teaching the lab. I guess you'd only be able to read the prof reviews once you have enrolled in the program unless you know someone who goes to the school who could search for you.

I will be enrolling for Fall 2010. What did you end up deciding?

I ended up asking them to extend their invitation. I'll have to reply to them sometimes in April though. I'm currently in the interviewing process with SFSU. If I get in, it'll become a harder decision for me to make as to which school I should attend...*sigh*

Well, if I decide to go w/ Wash U, I'll see you in the Fall. Keep me updated if you find anything interesting about the school/program. My main concern is the finance.

Just as a heads up--if finances are what you're most worried about, the deadline for Fall 2010 scholarships at Wash U is April 1. I don't know if it'd be possible for you to send in your scholarship application while your invitation is still on hold. I would ask about that. Also, if you haven't already, you should fill out your FAFSA; you need the SAR to go along with your scholarship application. Good luck!

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I was wondering if either of you had new insights on the Wash U program? I'm interested in it as a academic enhancement program myself. What did you find out about financing?

Thanks,
Ambam

They sent me a bunch of forms to fill out. Basically I'll get graduate loans from FAFSA.
