I got into WashU a while back and was wondering if anybody had received post-acceptance info about their merit scholarship application, which I guess is "by invitation" only--basically, have I already been passed up if I haven't heard? Or does anybody remember what they told us about the timeline on that?

Hey there, I got something about an Olin Scholarship (for women) and an invitation to apply for DAS/DSS merit scholarships shortly after my acceptance. If you're interested, I don't think it would hurt to call and ask whether you're still under consideration for the scholarships. My application was due on Jan. 7, but as I understood from the coordinator, they send out invitations to apply through March, so it's quite possible that they're still in the process of evaluating your application. Perhaps if you show interest, it will put you over the edge! 🙂 Good luck! Maybe we'll be classmates! 🙂

Does anyone know what kind of stats or other things are needed for the merit scholarships? Are they primarily stat based, or "whole picture" like acceptances?

That's the one that's for women only, and the page gives their criteria. I think they're looking for a "whole person", but maybe differently than the med school is looking for it, since they don't care so much about your dedication to making the world a better place as they do about your own potential as a contribution to the world of intellect. Or something like that. Just my impression. I don't know much about the others.

Does anyone know if they notify those selected to apply for the scholarship before or after the interview?

Hi Procrastinator,

I think they notify people after they've been accepted. It's rolling admissions, so they accept some candidates only a week or two after they've interviewed.
