Hello,
i am really interested in peds cardio and will be applying for the peds residency match this year.I have managed to get 4 months of usce -1 month in cooper hospital, camden, 2 months in wash u childrens hospital, and 1 month under a pvt physician.
i was really interested to know if doing the rotation in washU childrens hospital be of any help to me, as the IMG matching rate there is dismal.should i try to find an obsie in a more IMG friendly place or am i good to go for the 2013 match in peds?
will really appreciate genuine inputs.🙂

Doesn't this really answer your question? Why waste your time putting your face out there in a place in which you have almost no chance of matching? I don't think a letter from there will mean more than one from someplace you might apply and have a chance at matching at. You've just potentially denied yourself the opportunity to advertise yourself at the latter. Are you limited to observerships or can you do a rotation at some IMG friendly places? While plenty of people match into cardiology from peds residencies without CV surgery a/o cardiology fellowship, I think, in your position, I would try for a residency with one. Some of them are going to be FMG/IMG friendly, but aren't going to be "easy" to get into depending on your background. Are you USIMG at a lesser known Carib school? Are you non-citizen (this might affect your priority for programs with fellowship. If the fellowship is T-32 funded and you are not a US citizen, you will not be able to match into your home program. That isn't to say that your home program couldn't help you match in another program). Can you flesh out your background a little so we can try to guide you a bit better?
