About St. Mary's...
Good community program. Yale Affiliation. Off site rotations at Yale, U Conn and Memorial Sloan Kettering. One year of obligitory research. PD is world famous. Stanley Dudrick...the father of TPN (for those of you from UPENN...Rhodes's resident in the lab). His connections get you far. Operative experience is fair. Good bread and butter community surgery. For complex cases certain attendings and away rotations will satisfy. For trauma...level 2 trauma center...No CT surgery...but lots of GSW and blunt trauma (operative and non). Attendings are really busy and only some of them teach...others are too busy with private practice to teach in OR. Most attendings will let you do the case with time. Residents are okay too...new batch of interns are very nice and from good programs. Upper level residents are very knowledgable and know how to operate.
Good luck...I dont know much about Waterbury Hospital's program.
