I mean, is this an oxymoron? This class is a total nightmare. Any advice on strategies short of jumping off the roof of the building?

I already have CNMRS. Now what?

😕

😱

add high yield neuro to that and u are golden. Those are the only 2 books I used along with lecture notes. Maybe add Pretest or BRS just for the questions if u are motivated...

edit: also, if u take the NBME, u might need to learn headaches, sleep, and some CNS disorders caused by bugs (ex) Toxoplasmosis, etc...

This may be covered in ur lecture but this stuff is not in those 2 books i used.

Neuroanatomy Through Clinical Cases--an excellent book

Structure of the Human Brain (atlas)--has MUCH better brainstem sections than any other atlas I've seen.

Harvard Whole Brain Atlas (website)--for imaging studies

Study groups helped immensely, and so did lots of diagram-drawing of various nerve tracts.

It also helped that I loved the subject.

i made a concious decision to not study neuroanatomy when it came time for step 1, its a miserable waste of time.

OMG this is my weakest subject as well. I think I'm going to have a hard time studying this for Step 1! I don't think I recall much from Neuroanatomy, especially Reticular Formation and the Limbic Lobe. Actually...all of them! Hahahahaha!

Give it a chance and you might really like it....ppl used to tell me that neuro is the worst course of the first year...I decided to just try to learn as much as I could without worrying and it ended up being my favorite course ever.
I mainly read HY and CNMRS along with my lecture notes. I also occasionally used the textbook and atlas by Nolte. Do you guys get copies of old tests? Maybe you could look at those first to see what types of stuff you are tested on first. Neuro is fascinating! Study hard and keep an open mind! :luck:
