Weak LOR

Mt. Sinai requires a non-science LOR. I'm a graduate student and I haven't taken a non-science course in a while! They will not accept any other letters, I asked. Does anyone know how important the LOR is for Mr. Sinai? Might not be worth it to submit a secondary if the letter of reference will just say what grade I received.

I think you should try to get a LOR, even if it only says what grade you received. It would be silly to automatically disqualify yourself from a school just because you don't have 1 letter. As long as the letter doesn't say anything negative, it should not count too much against the rest of your application.

I do not have a non-science LOR either. I called MSSM and asked them if were okay if I submit different letters (from job, shadowing) in place of the non-science letter. They said okay. I wrote a letter to submit with my application stating the reason for the substitution.
If I were you, I would contact them and see what they say. Do not disqualify yourself from a school for a small reason like that. Most schools are reasonable and understanding and will be willing to work with you. Good luck!

What!?!? I emailed them and they said I have to have the non-science letter. Do you mind giving me the name of the person you talked to? How did you submit the letter with your application? Isn't the application online?

Arb - I pmed before I read this post. I mailed the letter after I submitted the letter online so they could put it in my file. And like I said in my message, I didn't get anyone's name. Isn't that horrible? I hope what I did is okay.
