Due to the pharmacists shortage many schools are opening satellite campuses where lectures recorded at the main campus and are broadcast over the internet for students at the satellite campuses. Even professional club meetings are televised between campuses.

Just wondering how effective is this mode of learning, especially when pharmacy isnt the easier thing to learn.

For those who are in these kind of learning mode, what are your likes and dislikes?

I have more trouble staying focused during a video lecture. There's just something about not having someone right there lecturing. It is nice that you can rewind lectures and that sort of thing though.

My therapeutics class this block is all digitial lectures. I find it hard to make myself watch the videos when needed and find myself cramming right before the quizes and case days and such. I really don't like it, but that is just me, I need structure in my life.

I actually don't mind having lectures online. The thing I like about it is the fact that it allows me to get other things done when class is supposed to meet and watch lectures when I have the time. Like was said before, you can also rewind when you miss something which is a big plus for me. Another big plus is that you don't have to heat all the stupid questions people may have in class.

I am actually in the first class of the University of Maryland's distance learning program and I have to say having the lectures online was a big plus for me.

Probably the two biggest advantages is that your schedule becomes very flexible and it makes doing other things like work outside of school a little easier.

Being able to rewind, watch the lectures at a slower or faster pace then normal also helps tremendously.

Getting into direct face to face contact with lecturing staff is a little bit more difficult but they can always be reached by email or in person without too much trouble.

Due to the fire, our OTC class has become an internet based class only. I've listened to a lection, but it was on material I already knew. I just have to wait and see how it goes.

I prefer them webcast and have an easier time concentrating during them. There is no one talking around me, I can take a break whenever I want, everything is always in view, and I can spread all of my stuff out on my desk. I would usually listen to the webcasts 2-3 times each and every time I would continue to absorb material.

My school does not provide us with lecture recordings, but there is a saint in my class who posts the audio files for all of the lectures. I am not a morning person, so even when i do make it to class, i am usually totally unfocused and fighting off sleep.

Having the lecture audio available has been really convenient. I no longer have to waste time not learning in early classes, and I can waste more time sleeping😴
