First time poster so please be gentle with me =)

But I am in a very weird situation right now. I was a Transfer student from a JC to UCLA however at UCLA i did horrifically in my science courses and was forced to change majors. Finally at my last year there due to some family issues i had to move and drop out never getting to finish my BS. After working in the real world now for alittle over a year, I've realized that school really is the way to go however i have no idea where to begin to try to get back in the pre-dental route.

Since its been a while since i took all my science classes, i wanted to retake them at a JC since its cheap and i dont know where else i can retake them but after reading everyone's post it seems like not the best option. Would someone please help me in pointing me toward the right direction?

Thanks in advance!

well i was also wondering whether or not there is another option for me or if JCs are the only way to go? I'm not sure if i can try to reapply to go to UCLA extension and post- baccs are out of the question no? Do i have to try and transfer again out of a JC to a 4 year again then finish it up?

Well here is my story, well a short version. I had some transcript screwups when UCR went from phone registration to online registration. I took a whole quarter that didn't count and I'm stuck with some failed courses that don't even apply to my major or anything. It killed my gpa at the time because I was just beginning my second year. I dropped out, worked for 1.5 years and saved for a 2 year LDS mission. Went and did that. When I returned I could not enroll as a student at UCR, so I went through UC extension. Retook those lame humanities, did good enough to get reinstated and since then I've been slowly bumping my dismal gpa back up. If you go the JC route that is fine since they count the same. I'd try to take your breadth courses through JC and focus on your prereq sciences through UCLA or another 4 year university. My experience just took me on a year detour schooling wise. I actually was not even considering dentistry before my missionary service, so maybe in the end it will be a blessing for me with my experience but best of luck for you and I hope you can get back on track.

Sounds like a tough situation, which hopefully you'll learn from. I don't think you should take any of the required courses from a JC. Have you completed all of your general education classes? If not, complete that at your JC and transfer. If you have, try to reapply at a 4-year instituation. Do you have to go to UCLA? Try another UC school or a CSU school. Would that be bad? I think you'll be fine at almost any 4-year university.
But i'm kinda confused, you don't have a 4-year degree, correct?
Call up some schools that you'll consider attending and find out from them what you can do to get in.
Bottom line, you need to get a degree, and complete your required classes at a university. Good luck.

Yea the problem is ive already fulfilled and transfered successfully once so I'm done with all of my GE classes. If i want to go to dental school ill need to just make up the core pre-req science classes. And i think my only option right now is to take it at a JC. I'm not sure but since i transfered alittle over 3 years ago i dont know if ill be able to use those scores now to transfer again. Any other suggestions would be helpful. Thanks.

Honestly, just re-take them all at your JC where it is easier. Get straight A's - go back to UCLA and take a lot of science classes. There are easy ones that will make your application look good -MCDB 30, 40. Then there are upper divs that are easy ala atmospheric science, a couple biological anthro and some BS EEB classes. Get your GPA to around 3.2-3.3 and try applying!
