Welch Allyn BIO Headset?

I'm a second year optometry student, and am close to having to purchase my BIO headset. I'd like to know if anyone here has a Welch Allyn headset, and if so what did you like/dislike about it? For me, the Welch Allyn fits the most comfortably in comparison to the Keeler and Heine models, which is why I am considering it.

If the Welch Allyn feels the best, then that's what you should go with. All the maufacturers have pros and cons, but for the most part each one makes quality products. While I realize this is a huge purchase right now, remember this will not be the last BIO you ever use. I stressed about this decision when I was a student and finally settled on one because I was able to get a good view with it during the demo day. On the first day of my residency, I was told not to bring it to the clinic because it was important to be able to get a view with any BIO that happens to be in the room. That was the last time I used my own BIO and I have never walked into an exam room that didn't have one. So the bottom line is, try not to stress and buy the one that you feel the most comfortable with. It's almost impossible to make a wrong decision and even if you do, it won't follow you for the rest of your career.

Schools want you to use headmount bios so that a teaching mirror can be attached.

I use both in practice, but prefer to use spec mount bios for the weight and they way it feels.

But as the previous poster stated, they are pretty much all the same. It should be a stress free decision. Flip a nickle and say heads or tales 🙂
