I recieved an email and then a phone call today from Western offering me an interview based on my primary AACOMAS application. I was just wondering if this has happened to anyone else, at Western or any other DO or MD programs? I was under the impression that interview offers were given after the admissions commitee reviewed both the primary and secondary application along with the LORs. I have yet to submit a secondary or LORs to Western (they offered me the interview in the same email that had the offer to fill out their secondary). I am taking this as a good sign that they are interested in me, but I was just wondering if this is just how Western does things??? Thanks for any and all input.

There are multiple threads regarding this. Try a search; COMP does offer interviews pre-sec to quite a few people. I got one as a NW track applicant, and many other people on this forum have recieved them as well. It is a good sign as they only interview ~400 applicants (from their website). But be sure to get that secondary done within 30 days. It is a killer.

Goodluck!

A million people besides you...I recieved that notification about 2 weeks after I send the AACOMAS in, before recieving secondary...and then I asked the same question on SDN 😀

I got invited to an interview at KCUMB before I even got secondary info. It happens.

yeah its totally normal for western. i will inform you of what its like when i get back from it next week. i met some other person from my interview at azcom who said that the interview at western is pretty chill. good luck

I got an invite before I got the secondary. I thought it was crazy too but I guess thats just how they do it. Good luck

yup, i got mine about a month ago. but because of all the hurricanes ive had a little bit of trouble getting done with their insane 4 essay secondary! i hope they dont hold it against me...maybe i should call and tell them that its on its way...whoever gets back from the interview let us know how it went!

Ha! I did even worse, I took about a month to finish the secondary, but my mind was so scrambled I forgot to double space within the space provided (even though it states it clearly at the top of EACH PAGE!!!) All my essays are twice as long as they should be. If they ask me one of my weaknesses in the interview, I'm going to say "sometimes I don't read directions carefully enough!"

i would not even say that to them...who knows they may not even notice or may not have read the directions....

Yeah...I'm not going to call attention to it, really...I do feel stupid, tho.

Another stupid thing I did...apparently I didn't call LECOM to confirm my interview for next Friday! Elaine Morse sounded a little ticked on the message machine. I can't believe I didn't call, I swear I thought I did. 😕

This whole process is causing me to lose brain cells...

I found it useful to do COMP suppl application, before all my other applications. This was the longest most of the others just required copy paste and slight modifications.

Make sure you change it from COMP to XCOM... or else they will really get a kick out of it.
