Hey everyone who was at western interviews!!...i hope u all did awesome and wish u all the best of luck!!...I absolutely loved the experience!!.....some things got left out and it was a bit downplayed....but...ya know....i really liked the faculty, the dean and the students!.....Western is going to be a great place to be and I felt great after interviewing there!!!
Good Luck!!

60? That's a lot! When I interviewed we had around 20...what about you Peachy?

What did they leave out and downplay? I'm just curious to see how it compared to last year.

There were 25 in my group and maybe a little more in the morning group...so yeah...i'd say around 60......
Well.....they left out all the presentations with the faculty and the financial aid presentation was also skipped......
This i personally dont mind..ive been through enough financial aid presentations not to want to sit through another.......so no biggy....
It would have been nice to get some input from the faculty.....from what im told the dental faculty are all fantastic!!

i'd say around 60 or so

They interviewed about 60 people in One day!!

So is it safe to assume that if one did not get interview from them last week, is basically out of luck NOW ?

How much is a cost for Western for OOS ??

no..i would not say that anyone is out of luck...its just an interview day....the first one....there will be many more to come b4 december......many wont fit into what western is looking for or wont want to pursue their school.....i have to say that western is trying hard to create a new world order in terms of dschool and many people are more comfortable with traditional curriculums and bigger schools....

Its a private school so im pretty sure its the same tuition for everyone....expensive....like $88K per year

I think they're going to keep having these large Saturday interviews and maybe do one weekday interview. They tried the Saturday thing last year and got great feedback from it, plus having interviewees popping in and out of a class that we're in the middle of is pretty distracting for us and the faculty. When I interviewed, I think there were maybe 8 of us at the most - it was also when they were doing the smaller weekday groups. If you interviewed and feel like you missed something or just have a question about Western, let me know and I'll do my best to answer it for you. 🙂

Tuition is the same for in state and out of state. They don't really distinguish between the in and out of state applicants.

Good luck to everyone who interviewed, but I can assure you tuition is definitely not $88,000! It is $55,000 but yeah, if you take out the maximum loan it comes to around $88,000.

You are right but if I remember correctly, 34 people from 2014 class are from Ca. That means the preferences is for Ca residents?

No, it's just that most people who apply are from CA so statistically speaking you'll get more CA people accepted. I promise you they don't distinguish between in and out of state - all applicants are looked at equally.

I would've skipped Western if they invited me. I have too many.

😉

Not!

dont be scared......try and think "excited" instead.....no nervous either....just "excited".....project 'excitement" throughout and you'll come out with a smile and will appear curious.....the dental faculty are really nice...dont be scared at all...4 real.....
Just be honest about your reasons for wanting to be a dentist and be honest about what kind of education you want.....u have to be comfortable where u r......they have to be comfortable as well.......if its a fit......they'll "buy your shoes"
