Hi,

Anyone heard anything about the interview from Western yet?

I haven't, and I don't expect to for a while actually, they just started their review process of all applications last week.
 
actually i just got a phone call today saying they want to interview me on dec 2nd. so.. i think they will start calling soon =)

Western calls applicants?? they don't send notice by snail mail?
 
they called me today and they said they would email me as well as a confirmation. havent gotten the email yet tho.
 
Yeah, they told me they would call applicants first. I haven't heard anything yet....Pretty scared...When did you submit your applications (pharmcas and supplemental)?
 
whoa sorry I was wrong, that was fast of them. I thought it didn't matter when you turned in your app though because they are not on rolling admissions this year (or so I read on another thread).

already?? I just spoke to a western rep at my school's grad fair and she told me they won't be interviewing til january. that means she lied. 😱 geez....
 
as soon as i saw this, i went to check my unchecked voicemails and i got a dec. 2nd interview too! yay. hope to see you all there!😀

As I was reading this thread I got the call. I have an interview for Dec 2nd! YAY.
 
oh no... didn't get one... and western is like my safety school...
 
I called Western today and they told me that they are back up. I have nopt received an interview request, I hope I get to go to the interview. I submitted all my application arounf secound week in October
 
i called western just now and they're still offering interviews for dec 2 so there's still hope. did anyone get an email from lacy nutting saying that your file is ready for review? i got that email on oct 25.
 
To gkim8884, smallkitty00, Seles3, luvJRT. Can you please let us know when did you send your complete application (supplemental, LoR, etc.)? Thanks for your help.
 
i just got a call this morning at 9am too for the Dec 2 interview.
 
i sent it in early september and i got the e-mail about my application being ready for evaluation on oct. 3rd.
 
I recieved an email from Lacy Nutting on Sept 29 saying my application is complete and I havn't heard back from Western since.

Sego, my file was officially complete October 16th.
 
for those going to the Dec 2 interview, how are u preparing for it? are there sample questions on the website? if so, i couldn't find it.
i know u have to write an essay when ur there. i think there are two interview sessions that day. i'm in the first one from 7:15am-1:30pm what about u guys?
 
I'll be seeing u there. 7:15 am at western dec 2!

and for the USC guys and uop people .... nov 18th and jan 12 respectively!!🙂

so I guess I missed out on Western's Dec 2 interview? Still no call.
 
Don't worry PolarBear. There are still plenty of interviews left. I think Dec 2nd is the first one. Last year, I interviewed for the last interview date and that was during mid-March.

Don't lose hope!

Got another email 11/18/06 (a saturday?) saying that my application was being reviewed and I'd here by phone or by mail as soon as they made a determination.
 
Western U will interview top candidates in early December to offer them a seat before other schools will. So consider yourselves on the top of their list for invites into the college.

They will have MANY interviews in the next few months so don't too anxious about it.

As far as the interview goes:

1. There will be an essay you have to write. So brush up on your essay writing and read up on current events (i.e., MTM, Part D, pharmacist's role in DSM clinics, etc etc....)

2. The interview session will have about 2 to 3 people interviewing you. I don't remember the questions because my friend failed to remember them.

3. Ask about the "block" system. Or better yet, read about it on the website. www.westernu.edu

4. Ask about rotation sites. How easy is it to get the one you want etc?

Last year Western interviewed a small amount of people almost every week starting January.

It looks like they are switching things up this year.

Interviews will be conducted 1 Saturday a month from December 2006 to March 2007. Approximately 100 applicants will be interviewed on each of the interview days. The dates are as follows:

Saturday, December 2, 2006
Saturday, January 27, 2007
Saturday, February 24, 2007
Saturday, March 24, 2007

INTERVIEW DAY ORIENTATION
The interview day has been organized to allow candidates to obtain information on our program and support services; therefore we encourage you to ask questions.

The interview day agenda includes the following:

CHECK-IN
At check-in you will be given a name badge and an Interview Day Orientation and Admissions Guidebook. You will be required to wear your name badge at all times while on campus. The guidebook has important information that you can refer to during your interview day and after your interview.

WELCOME
We understand you are also making choices regarding the professional school you would like to attend. Our goal is to assist you with that process and provide you with information about our program, state of the art facilities and demonstrate that we are here for our students and for each other.

You will receive a brief welcome and information from the College of Pharmacy's Student Services representative. You will also hear from an Admissions representative who will provide you with information on what to expect after your interview.

CAMPUS TOUR
A short tour of the campus will be conducted by pharmacy students. Our pharmacy students are active in many campus activities and have volunteered to share their experiences with you and answer your questions regarding campus life.

INTERVIEW
The average interview is approximately 30 minutes in duration. The interview panel may be comprised of the following: admissions committee member, faculty member, Pharmacist and/or current student/alumni of Western University.

WRITING SKILLS EVALUATION
This section of the interview process will evaluate your proficiency in communication through essay writing. You will be asked to write an essay on a topic chosen by the College of Pharmacy Admissions Committee. You will have 40 minutes to complete the essay to the best of your ability. Essay topics will be general in nature, not necessarily pharmacy related.

EVALUATION FORM
An Interview Day Evaluation form will be included in your guidebook. Comments received about our interview process are important to us. The comments and suggestions you provide are taken into consideration and assist us in planning next year's interview day activities. The information that is reported will remain confidential and will not be used in determining admission to the PharmD program.

Check your voicemail.. I just got an interview invite for Jan 27th this morning. She said she left a bunch of messages and she only has spoken to two people because no one is picking up their phones.. 🙂

i got a call from western this morning too. interview is for the 27th of jan. Why does it have to start so early???

Guess i'll be seeing you there again Ryan. However, if i do end up getting into USC, i don't see a point in interviewing at Western.
 
there are two interview sessions per interview day.
that is why one is so early.
you would rather have it early in the day rather than later when the interviewers are tired.

YUP! definitely

When i interviewed at USC at 9:35am, the interviewers had already seemed tired! perhaps its b/c they are told to put on their poker face?!? Hopefully Western won't have to be like that.

I interviewed at 9:35 also!

Anyways I have Western tomorrow and I am annoyed it is starting so early in the morning!

When Western calls you guys, did an 'unknown' number appear, or a regular number? I provided my cell number and the voice mail is not working.....so, i just see a "missed call"....

i got a missed call from a 909 area code number. can u try to access your voicemail from a landline phone? you could also try calling the admissions office to find out if u got an offer for the interview
