Hey everything,,

I am going to be starting my 1st year at westernU podiatry program this fall and wanted to get some real advice from real students (that why I am posting this here instead of pre-pod forum) I graduated undergrad back in 2009 and have been working a 9-5 job since so getting back into school after 3 years is giving me butterflies, especially because I know its going to be a lot more intense and I intend on making a study schedule and being disciplined but still had a few questions:

1. Realistically, how often do you or most students study on a day to day basis - are you studying all day everyday or is there time to go relax and perhaps even go out with friends on the weekend?

2. When you are studying are you generally reading out of a textbook and trying to memorize every detail or looking more at class notes and using books as a reference. (my undergrad school I hardly ever read textbooks)

2. What are some common mistakes you see lot of 1st year students making?

3. What is the general atmosphere like at the school? Are professors helpful and kind?

4 Are there books that you really don't need to buy your 1st year?

5 California is expensive, especially when your living off loans- any tips on saving money...?

I'm just trying to prepare myself mentally and don't want to find out things the hard way when it could have been avoided by simply asking. Any answers to any of these questions would be much appreciated and would help myself and others like me more than you could imagine. Thanks.
