I have been fortunately accepted to both USC and WesternU, so it's hard time to decide. I plan to do residency after graduating. Anyone has experienced or done research about this? Please give me some suggestion.

definitely usc. It's far more better alumnus connection, Appe or IPPE rotation site, as well as faculty . As for Tuition , both schools r equal.

How about the curriculum and quality of the schools?

These would be my two choices if I were to stay in-state too... I haven't really heard many good things about USC so far :/ The P1s right now apparently have complaints about the curriculum + work-load and things just seem disorganized for them. I'm not sure how things are going for the P2s/P3s though. I haven't heard anything bad about Western and they seem to have a good and caring faculty. If I were you, I would try to get in touch with current students there to see how they are or are not enjoying their experience at each school. That's what I've been trying to do!

If you have an acceptance at USC pharmacy school, I greatly encourage you to take the offer even if you have acceptances at cheaper programs.
$400,000 isn't a lot of debt for a pharmacy degree so you will be fine, also USC is a top ranked pharmacy school, it will give you very important connections
that will be worth the 400K debt. moreover, I heard that if you go to USC you will be guaranteed a high paying job in California and the residency of your choice
because employers are so amazed by the USC name! Also you can stay in California, where all the hot chicks are that will love you for your $$$ and USC brand name 👍
Don't listen to all the naysayers on here, paying an equivalent of dental school tuition for a pharmacy degree from USC is definitely worth it for the prestige :claps:

I agree with u, usc is very prestigious school. However I do question how long and what is the monthly payment for 400000 loan plus accumulating interest?
Sounds like it will cost me an arm and an leg. Some pharmacist now day work pier diem for 60k per year. It will be difficult to pay back tat amount unless u works for va or enroll in some kind of loan forgiveness program.

yes, USC is very prestigious, if you go there the hot ladies and employers will be all over you because of all that prestige.
with 400K debt from USC with a 6.8% interest, if you take on a 10 year loan repayment plan, assuming starting salary is 120K
you will be making a monthly payment of $5,000 dollars for the next short 10 years, with a cumulative payment of only 580K by the end of your plan!
if you take on a 20 year loan repayment plan, you will be paying ONLY $3,500 per month for 20 years, with a cumulative payment of just 750K!

with your guaranteed job after graduating USC, and high paying 120K salary, you should have no worries at all! the prestige will carry you to success! 👍

USC is very affordable. You can easily pay 400k student loan over 10 years with a $4600/month payment. That isn't anything to worry about, especially in Los Angeles where you will make a huge pharmacist salary.

The great thing about USC is the alumni network and the Los Angeles entertainment industry. Even if you have trouble finding a pharmacist job, you should be able to easily network with entertainment celebrities and executives. If you need a little extra money, doctor TV shows are always looking for pharmacists to hep make their scripts more realistic. One of my friends made 80k a few years ago working as a consultant to the movie 'Wolverine.' He helped add the scene about HCTZ:

The other perk about having such a high-paying pharmacist job in southern California is the prestige factor. Many Hollywood celebrities are dating pharmacists. If you go to USC, the alumni network will really help you get connected. Many USC pharmacy graduates think of the pharmacy program as a stepping stone to the entertainment business. There have many pharmacists that have transitioned into game show hosts, Fox TV analysts, comedians, and daytime soap opera actors. This unofficial networking program basically gives you two degrees in one, so you would have to be crazy not to go to USC.

Lol sounds like a very unique career option to work in entertainment industry. Unfortunately I neither has the look or the acting skills to succeed in tat career path. Otherwise I will be working as an actress or model already without going to pharmacy school and 400k in debt. Thank you for sharing the information.

I'm sure there are great Western students, but when I was a student not too long ago, preceptors tended to stereotype USC students to be better than Western, so my vote is for USC.

Not that Western is any better, both USC and Western pharmacy are overpriced.
