This sort of builds on the other thread about community colleges, but I felt like it deserved it's own topic.

I'm a non-traditional student planning to start taking my pre-reqs at the same college I got my bachelors from. However, due to the cost of the classes there I won't be able to start until the spring semester when I have saved up the money.

Between now and then I was considering taking a couple of classes at my community college. It's right near my house, I could afford it, and I've been wanting to take a spanish class as a refresher and to continue to develop my conversational abilities.

I took one class there last spring when I was considering becoming a paralegal (I work in a law office now). So I'm already registered and everything.

My thoughts on this are two fold, 1) My GPA is horrendous and needs all the help it can get and 2) It might be a good idea to take a class that would be a bit easier for me to help me get into the swing of taking classes and working at the same time.

If I took a class there can I put it on my (eventual) vet school application? Would they even care about those classes? Would it count towards my GPA?

As long as you are sure you can get a good grade, go for it. It will go on your VMCAS (all post secondary courses are suppose to be reported.) I don't know whether a school would care, but if you plan on working in a spanish speaking area, it could be considered as supporting your intent (if you frame it that way.) Might be able to use it as part of diversity stuff if you have to answer the 'what makes you a diverse applicant' for the schools you apply to. It would count toward your cummulative GPA (I believe) but not your pre-req. It would count towards your last 45, which is important for some schools.

I say go for it. It will only benefit you. I've actually been thinking about doing the same thing.
