i am curious to know what the most average med student (50% rank, avg boards) will get in terms of residency....if they were going internal med or surgery, where would they be most likely to land...what about other specialties. thanks

Are you asking which program an applicant would likely match if he/she had the mean Step 1 score and was ranked in the middle of their class? 😕

There's no way of knowing that!

Are you trying to figure out which IM/G Surg programs you should apply to? Or just curious?

BTW, being an AMG vs. USIMG vs. IMG makes a big difference as well. (Letters of recommendation, away rotations, research, etc. also plays a part.)

They generally end up at mid-tier programs in the middle of the country. Most drive midsize vehicles to work, have plain-looking spouses, and an average number of kids. Most end up considering their satisfaction with their medical careers to be "OK, I guess."

i am an avg student with below avg board scores, above avg experience, and research

I should be matching in a very solid, respected neuro program.
I probably could not match in neurosurgery.
really depends on your goals nd what field you want.

dont stress
