What activates these two zymogens...

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
So trypsin activates both and enterokinase also activates both? or does one activate one and the other activate the other...?

Thanks

I think it activates both, this process MIGHT be dependent on bicarb to help regulate when and how the enzyme becomes active....i'll see if I can find a better answer 4 ya doc

Chymotrypsinogen and Trypsinogen...
I read trypsin, enterokinase do...Is this true.
From Shaums by the way...

Hrm.. I remember chymotrypsinogen --> chymotrypsin which cleaves some amino acids.
but chymotrypsin also activates something else.. I'm going to guess its Trypsinogen --> Trypsin.

And Enterokinase is the brush-border-enzyme activator.. so it will activate both into their active forms... producing trypsin and chymotripsin.

Pop Question: What does Enterogastrone do?

I think of it as "enter" so when protein or fat ENTERS: stomach slows down so that chyme can be digested because it takes a while to digest it...
I don't know but I think pancreas and gallbladder dump their "stuff."

Wow...Contach, you are in great shape...congrats

according to wiki, trypsin activates chymotrpysingoen and enterokinase activates trypsinogen.

if i remember correctly, enterogastrone inhibits stomach emptying into the duodenum

albuterol is correct.. and pancreas and gallbladder "dump" their stuff into duodenum because of cholycystokinin (CCK), which is activated by the acidity of the chyme leaving the pyloric sphinctor from the antrum of the stomach..

just got done with medical physio this summer.. ive been thinking of all this stuff in my sleep the past 2 months.. at least now i wont forget it for the DAT

trypsinogen does get activated by entero kinase, but once one gets activated, trypsin can activate the others.

I got this question wrong on my histo final!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
