I will be a M1 in august. From all of the forums, I have read some stuff about various books, anatomy cds, etc to use in addition to the required text books. But I am still confused about which books are helpful and where I can get them. So my questions are:
What anatomy cd/book (?) is better...I have heard there are two different ones but I am not sure...what are the author names?
The USMLE review books are helpful??? Are they by like Kaplan or something?
And Board Review Series books? Which series would I need and are they all by the same author?
Any other books/authors or study aids or cds that would be helpful??

Thanks so much!
(there is just so many tidbits in every thread that it was hard to understand!)

There are many options for books and everyone has their own personal favorites.

Anatomy:
Netter: essential atlas
Moore: More detail than you need, but the "blue boxes" with clinical correlations are very helpful
Rohen: Atlas with real pictures of cadavers. My favorite for studying for exams and seeing what stuff "should" look like.
BRS Anatomy: Chung - excellent review and questions

Physiology: Constanzo (not the BRS Costanzo physiology)

Biochem: Lipponcott's Biochemistry

Neuroanantomy: I used BRS Neuroanatomy, but I know there are other books that other people like better.

That's all I can think of for now. There have been several threads on books; do a search. You will probably find more info. Definitely ask the second years at your school what worked for them.

Don't worry about buying all the required textbooks. They are usually much too in-depth and much more than you will need. Again, the second yrs at your school will let you know what you need and what you don't.
