I understand that good non-clinical volunteering involves helping the needy and the community outside of a hospital setting, but is the human to human interaction something ADCOMS are looking for as well?

I’m currently volunteering at a food bank to help package a lot of meals. Even though I feel like I’m helping many people, I never get to see any of the people who benefit from our work.

I think in this time of COVID that’s a good activity. Where is this food bank? Is it associated with a homeless shelter? How do they clients pickup the food you have packaged? Maybe you could ask if you could occasionally help with distribution too!

We are looking for evidence of your altruism. Medicine is a service profession.

The food bank serves the metro area‘s food pantries, soup kitchens, residential facilities, and senior centers. The food gets distributed to the people at those locations. I think I‘ll ask the staff if I could join the distribution aspect of the food bank as well.
