What are my chances? Advice please!

You'll get in. Physics is low, but that's not that big of a deal since you have some higher scores. Congrats on the 400 RC section. May I ask, what was your strategy?

I highly doubt you'll have to retake it, unless your physics grade is also lackluster.

I'm not sure about that. Some schools REALLY want you to have at least a score of 300 in all areas and will ask you to retake it to bring up that 290. I would call your favorite schools and ask their policy on sub-300 scores.

Thanks. Basically I read the questions first and then search for the answer, I never actually read the passage through. I am concerned that once I apply the schools will ask me to retake the exam. Do you think I'll be in that position?

Thats what I always do on these standardized exams... Has always worked out well for me as well.

Nice RC score! I think your chances are good. I also doubt that you'd have to retake it, but just call your prospective schools about that first.

You can start filling out your app on June 15. Since most schools are on rolling applications, August would be a GREAT time for you to apply.

I got a 280 on physics, but above 300 on all other sections. I had no problem getting into NOVA, but I did have a 3.67 GPA. My AA was 320, so you beat me there. Just apply early and you should be fine!

For Reading Comp, I've always used the search-and-destroy method, but lately my scores are dropping because I fail to find the little detail later in the passage that properly answers the question. (My answer will be based on the relevant info surrounding the keyword.) Was there a way you knew to look farther in the passage before choosing an answer?

Well I do the search and destroy as you call it, but I look at the last paragraph first, since it is normally a wrap up of the passage, then i go back to the main paragraph thats on the topic, and find the key words from the question, as well as key words from the answers. So then it leaves the one or two best choices to have your main attention. It sounds like it takes time, but if you just look at large key words to tie to the possible answers, you will find the sentence/answer you need. I Hope that helps a bit about how i do it. Ash19 might have a different S/D method. Ash19 would you mind sharing?

That's basically how I approach the section as well. I think looking for key words is the best way to go. Also, I always skip the questions that require knowledge of the whole passage. I save those for last so I have a better idea of what the passage is about.
