Hi everyone,

I've never really posted anything on sdn, so sorry in advance if i posted this thread in the wrong section of the forum for a question like this.

Just wanted some opinions on my chance of getting into NJMS. NJMS is my top choice(mainly because nj resident so cheaper tuition and went for undergrad in Newark so familiar w/ the area). So what are my chances...

3 years out of college, going to be 4 when I apply (plan on applying next summer)
3.77 cGPA 3.67 sGPA
Bio major w/ history minor
5 years of scribing at an inner city ED
2 years working as a lab technician
did some light research my freshman(nothing published or anything like that)
did lots of volunteering during undergrad, mostly locally in Newark(fundraising events, blood drives, soup kitchens, etc.)
Just took my mcat this past June, got a 520 though decided to apply early next cycle vs applying so late in the current cycle as I've been told applying early in a cycle significantly improves your chances.

So I wanted some opinions because recently alot of the docs who I've worked with(even my PMD lol) keep emphasizing how my time out of school will hurt my chances with most allopathic schools, so they say to apply to mostly DO schools(granted most of the physicians that I'm close with are DO docs and they kinda just wanna gear me towards going to their own alma maters lol). I plan on applying to both DO and MD as both have great schools, though NJMS has been my top choice since I was in high school.

If you have any recommendations for a school list based on my stats, please foward!

Thanks

3.8/520 is good for every school. I don't think you need to apply DO.

IMO gap years are only problematic if you haven't done anything with them.

Sorry to burst your bubble but you might get yield protected.
