I am a high school student trying to figure out my plans for the future. I know I want to be a PA and would love to go to UT Southwestern for PA school.

What would my chances be of getting accepted if I did this:
Went to Angelo State University
Graduated with a major in Exercise Science with a specialization in Athletic Training
Earned a 4.0 GPA
Got 1800 hours of athletic training with the college sports teams
I don't know what I will get on the GRE, but I did well on my SAT (2090 on the first try) and generally test well.

Do you think I could get accepted even though I didn't go to a major university? Also, what alternative routes would you suggest?

Don't know anything about PA school, but it's too early to be thinking or worrying about any of that.

Usually what undergrad you go to doesn't matter. Do well, find and pursue your passions, enjoy life.

I know, but I will be a senior next year and I will graduate high school with an Associate's degree in Biotechnology from Temple College. Therefore, PA school isn't that far away for me (hopefully).

What will you have done to demonstrate you want to be a PA? Shadowing? How are your letters of rec? Do you interview well? Is the person that interviews you having a good day? Control what you can, but there's a lot more that goes into it than a GPA and test score. Don't put all of your eggs in one basket.

How do you show you want to be a PA? I will definitely shadow (I'm actually required to in the program I'm in and I'll do extra throughout the years) and I regularly volunteer at a hospital. Does that show it? What else could I do?

Probably not possible with all of your athletic training, but I think actually have a job in the medical field can show a lot. I guess it depends what you do as a volunteer, but directing patients the urology offices doesn't show much (or at least I think it shouldn't). But if you have a job, like being a scribe, you're really immersed in it. The scribe is the doctor or mid-levels right hand man and you just get a real feel for what life is like. I was a scribe in a ED for years. Got to see what medicine is really like. I also really think it's helped me in medical school. Knowing the jargon is half the battle.

Why a PA specifically? Why not a physician? Be prepared to answer that if you are serious about this.
