Hello everyone, this is what my application would look like right now, just wondering if I would yield enough interviews for a possible acceptance. If not, what areas of my application need work? Looking to apply broadly for the upcoming cycle.

uGPA: 3.5 (about 3.2 for first two years, about 3.8 in final two years)

MCAT: 518

Two leadership positions in two different university-affiliated orgs (about 250 hours each)

Volunteering at clinic/hospital (about 150 hours)

EMT at local EMS department (about 100 hours)

Medical Volunteer work in Peru for a week (40 hours)

Non-clinical volunteering-- tutor for high schoolers and college students (about 150 hours)

Shadowing: 10 hours primary care, 10 hours general surgery, 10 hours Cardiology

Research lab (1 publication)

If you could use the WAMC template, it would be a little easier. We are missing your state residency and major.

How much of your medical exposure has been in primary care? 10 hours shadowing... might be a little small, but I don't know how your other experiences break down and would factor.

Your international volunteering at Peru should be discounted. If your sole non-clinical volunteering is tutoring, that's nice but also rather typical of premed applicants so its impact should be discounted.

Two leadership positions at university-affiliated organizations tells me nothing. How large are these groups? Is it like student government? How much community service is involved? Exactly how are you a leader in these organizations?

Metrics alone will not guarantee anything in the application process. Many others with stronger metrics have not gotten into medical school, so don't think your GPA/MCAT is your ticket because AAMC tables show it's not.

Just chiming in as a student with similar stats who applied this last cycle (3.4-3.5, 516 ORM, 5 IIs). Your stats are probably fine if your school list is broad.

If you have time to increase SHADOWING first (~50 hrs) and VOLUNTEERING second, I would definitely do it. Unfortunately, I agree that unless you spin international volunteering the right way in your narrative/application, then it would probably seem less impactful. But with current events it is likely impossible to get any shadowing or volunteering.
