So last fall I applied with a 27R MCAT and a sGPA around 3.6 and cGPA a little higher. My EC's were decent with around 3 years of CNA/PCA experience, student organization involvement, research, volunteer, shadowing, etc. I got 1 interview at a state school while getting rejected from another state school with higher admission reqs. and wait listed, pretty far down on the list also.
I retook the MCAT and got a 33, have been continuing CNA work, started a clinical scribe job this fall and also might be getting a hospital CNA position, all the other experience is nursing home. I have not retaken any coursework and don't plan to before reapplying next year, or at least really hope I don't strongly need to, as it would financially kill me. How much better does my application sound? Is the 33 going to make up a lot for my lowish GPA or not much? Does it look weird to jump 6 points between MCATs and if I do get II's will the schools focus much on it? Getting rejected once really sucked so I'm just wondering what you guys think of my app.

PS- My mcat was 9vr, 11ps and 13bs. Is this considered balanced or unbalanced and does the 9 look bad?

Cut yourself some slack. Your GPas are fine. Apply to schools whose median stats are near yours, and you'll be fine. Don't forget your state school too.

I see two potential issues:
1. "last fall I applied" is a problem because med school apps open in early June. Fall is late. Applying in the fall is probably why things aren't going well here. If you didn't apply in early summer this time, you may not see different results.
2. Looks like you only applied to 2 schools. 20 schools is normal.

Retaking the MCAT once and doing much better is a strong positive. (Taking the MCAT over and over and not doing any better is a strong negative.)

Best of luck to you.
