Hey everyone. This is my first time on this site. I've been thinking about dentistry for a while now, but I feel that I shouldn't even consider it after the way I've been doing at school. I have a 3.0 gpa at UC Davis in BioSci. I have a lot of volunteer work, and I have done an internship at a dental office. However, I've constantly heard/read that you need at least a 3.3 gpa to be competitive, but that just seems so far-fetched for me since I'm in my last year. Anyone have suggestions? Please, serious answers only; my heart can only take so much. :scared:

try retaking courses (if you feel its valuable). or make sure to excel in upper level courses. if not those, try a post-bac or masters if you need a year off. as 1992corolla said, study hard and see how you do on your DATs first. good luck.

A masters may be in your future or perhaps a smokin DAT.

Honestly if you are going into your last year then you will not be able to change your GPA all that much. Get great grades in you remaining classes and bring it up .1 or .2 points and apply. You will have to smoke the DAT but it is possible. If that is not enough then look into Master degree programs because AADSAS will give you a graduate GPA next to your undergrad GPA on your application. Schools look to SMP's (special masters programs) as proving grounds.

A 3.3 (my gpa) isnt even competitive, more like a 3.6
