Hey guys so lemme just lay out my stats for you:

So i took the dat a month ago and got:
19 AA 19 TS 20 PAT
(the RC, QR and BIO where all 18 but everything else was 19, except for gchem which was 21)

MY gpa under the Biochemistry/chemistry major at UCSD is
Overall 3.27 (This will become a little over a 3.3 after im done with my last year here)
Science: 3.1 (This will get a little higher maybe a 3.2)

As for extracurriculars, i am currently conducting research at the number one research institute for oceanography. I have been working on a project for two years now that will hopefully lead to the preservation of a particular species.

In addition i take part in the pre dental society were i have been volunteering as a chair side assistant to various dentists at the UCSD free dental clinics set up around San Diego. I have been doing that for about 50 hours so far.

Also i have shadowed an oral surgeon for about 100 hours

I am a california resident and i am basically applying to all of the Cali dental schools (UCSF, UCLA, Loma Linda, USC, Western, UoP). In addition, i will be applying to Tufts, and NYU. As for that im not sure were else to apply to.

I plan to apply as soon as the application priocess starts so hopefully i will be in batch 1 or 2.

So what do you guys think? (ill be applying in june)

so are you applying next cycle?

to be honest your number are not very competitive, although your EC are good
if you are applying next cycle why don't you take DAT once more?
you need to have at least 3.5ish to be competitive with a 19AA.
I do not guarantee you anything but if I were you I would retake it.

Your scores are great!! And your GPA is good enough..but to be VERY competitive apply early next cycle and do a lot of comminity service and shadowing....Do Not retake, i dont think is necessary..i have seen ppl retake and do worse, so stay with your scores and apply next cycle..good luck you gonna be competing with me lol...your chances are higher haha 😛 ..i am planning on NYU thought lol
