Hello! I am a first time KY resident applying to Auburn and Missou. I feel like my gpa and vet hours are pretty solid, however my extracurriculars are lacking because I have had to work so much to support myself through undergrad.

GPA
Overall: 3.93
Science: 3.89
Last 45: 3.84 (earned the only 2 b's on my transcript last semester, I pushed myself way too hard working 45 hours a week between 2 jobs plus school)

Vet/Animal Experience:
Vet Assistant/ shadowing at local mixed practice that is primarily small animal hours, but we also occasionally see pocket pets, and I get to help with large animal(cattle, horses, and goats mostly) whenever we are understaffed: 1172
Breeding, showing, and marketing my dairy goat herd for 6 years: 2345
Working for 2 different farms that had dairy goats, dexter cattle, and poultry as needed for 4 years: 572
Classes I've earned credit for through my schools tech program in animal labs working with both small and large animal: 44

Extracurriculars:
Member of Block and Bridle Club for 1 year, I wasn't a super active member here because of work, mainly attending club meetings and helping with fundraisers:`15
Wildlife Rehabilitation Course taken over a weekend: 16
Pre-vet/AHT club: 100 hours
Competitive marching/concert band in High School ( I included this because it really help me grow as a person and gain confidence in high school and impacted how well I have don in college): 2112

Employment:
Customer Service Associate at Lowes for a little over a year: 1590
Student Center Janitor for 1 semester: 108
Student Janitor for Dorms over one summer: 360
Food Service Worker in dining hall over 2 1/2 years:1560

Many of these positions overlap as I have been working multiple jobs each semester up until this spring when I finally could afford to give myself a break.

Recommendation Letters:
2 from veterinarians I work closely with at my current assistant job
1 from the owner of one of the farms I still work for.

Essay:
In my essay I talked about how important it is to me to help both the pet and its owner as the relationship is intertwined in vet med more than some expect, and how this relationship is also important with large animal medicine as it impacts our food supply. Also how I have been drawn to small ruminant medicine from working with my dairy goat herd and others.

You definitely have a good range of experiences working with small animals, exotics and large animal and thus can decide which type of animals you hope work with one day. And even with your multiple jobs you were able to maintain a good GPA. Overall your application looks good to me.

I agree, definitely go for it. Why just Auburn and Mizzou?

Mostly financial reasons. I did not want to deplete my savings completely on applications, so that I would have plenty of money saved back for expenses for moving to and starting school and still have a cushion for my first year.
