Hello, I am a first-time applicant! The schools I am applying to are Cornell, CSU, Upenn, UF, WSU, and University of Wisconsin for the 2023 application cycle. These are my stats:
Degrees- Associates in Science (biology), Bachelors in Science (biology), CNA certification
GPA- community college gpa (first two years)-3.7, University of Miami gpa (last two years)- 3.93, overall- 3.8, last 45- 4.0
Honors- Presidents list 7 times, deans list once
Experience- animal shelter volunteer: 32 hours
shadowing LA vet: 16 hours
Ophthalmology research:96 hours
Dog babysitter- 45 hours
Kennel technician (w/ vet assistant tasks): 182 hours
Vet and Research technician at a primate facility- 333 hours ( continuing to work full time for entire next year so this number will be above 1000)
and other jobs not related to vet field ( tutor during covid, bartender, sales associate)
Recommendations: Organic Chemistry professor, Board-certified Veterinarian from primate facility, board-certified director from primate facility, DVM from a small animal clinic.
clubs- Marine mammal rescue team member, pre veterinary club member
also planning on getting my ALAT certification in September or October and possibly conducting my own research within the next year.
What do you think my chances are for acceptance to these schools? and where do you think my application could use some help?
