Curenntly working at Opthalmology clinic for over a year
Have worked with optometrist over 50hrs.

Extarcurricular activities: secretary in a co-ed fraternity, leader council in peer health exahange, dance club, MAPS member, intramural sports: football and basketball, turtored ESL college students, pre-optometry club, sociology club.

I would like your honest opinion... what are my chances? I want to apply to ICO, SUNY, NECO, UC Berkeley... if you have suggestions on where I should apply, please let me know.

Well your shadowing and extracurricular stuff looks great. I would say that unless you were able to boost your gpa significantly and do fairly well on your OATs, SUNY and Berkeley would probably be out (they are probably the two most selective schools). My best advice is to rock those remaining classes and study your ass off for the OAT. Good call taking it in the summer so you have more time to prepare. You definately have a shot at some schools if you are willing to put in the work over the next 7 months or so. Good luck!

I agree with mjl. I believe SUNY and Berkeley would be a reach for you. As long as you raise your GPA to at least a 3.0 or 3.1, you have a decent shot with solid programs like SCO, NOVA, Salus, SCCO, and ICO though.

OAT > GPA >>> Extracurriculars
Especially for schools like SUNY and UC Berkeley. I know people at SUNY for example that had zero extracurriculars but had stellar grades/OAT and got in with no problem.

You need to seriously step it up in the next couple of years. Your GPA is on the low end, and you haven't even taken traditionally challenging classes like Organic Chem and Physics. You have great extracurricular activities, but it's unlikely that an admissions committee will overlook poor grades and a low OAT score because of lots of schadowing.
