I have some posters in prep and would like to know which conferences are very good. Trying to get into some national ones besides APS for my CV.

My PI really dislikes the idea of me applying to the APA conference for some reason so I mostly apply to these:

APS
ICPS
NEPA
EPA

Agree with the above - why nothing focused on your particular research topic? My experience with larger conferences is generally quite negative. Been to APA twice and it is REALLY hit or miss on quality. Tons of low quality garbage science and it can be tough to tell what is worth attending just from abstracts. Too big to network very effectively...not like the person whose talk you went to is likely to come by your poster as they might very well be in a completely different building while its going on. This may be why your mentor was discouraging about it.

I'm guessing EPA and NEPA are regional - also not a big fan of those. I hear ABCT is quite good if you want something large-ish. Otherwise, I'd aim for specialty conferences.

Thanks I'll check it out. I just posted to another comment the research areas 🙂

SRBR might be a good fit for your napping research. Every two years (next one is in 2020 in FL). Conference is associated with the Journal of Biological Rhythms.
