What are the dates?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I could make up some dates on the spot. True SDN style. June 3 open. June 28 batch 1 released. July 5 batch 2 released. July 12 batch 3 released. July 15, someone lands either a Case or Midwestern interview and all the August DAT takers panic.

This probably isn't too far off. Except that last part.

So if i take m DATs in late june early july, is it possible to send an unofficial score report and be considered for the 1st batch?

I wouldn't count on it. Your application will not be "complete" until all components are in. Most schools will only evaluate you if your application is "complete".

It takes 3 weeks for the school to receive your DAT score, so add that to batch number. So if you write your DAT in early July, your batch will be somewhere around late July.

First batch isn't that big of a deal. Nice and ideal, but definitely don't rush the DAT to be in the first batch.

That's highly accurate. I was a mid August DAT taker, haha.

I have a question thats sort of related to this. I took my DAT in December of 2012 and selected all schools to receive my scores. Will the schools still have access to my scores for the next cycle? Or do I have to have them sent again?

You're good to go. It'll link up once you start you application (based on birth date and DENTPIN). Throwing the date you took it in there probably helps too. You won't see confirmation that they have been received right away though (or the actual scores).

How do the DAT scores get sent anyway? Do they automatically receive a letter with your scores after you're done taking it or are the scores kind of just chilling in the system until you apply?

I took mine in January 2013 and checked all the schools when I was signing up for the DAT

The scores are just chilling in the system until you apply.

The database that stores your DAT score is different from the database that you submit your application. You just have to link your DAT score with your application via your DENTPIN.

I just asked Iowa if I could fax my unofficial score report since they already had my application so they could move ahead with my application. I was offered an interview a week later. Definitely possible. Just ask the school. They will obviously verify it later with the official scores so they will assume you aren't sending a fake report.
