Hi All,

I know the prereq classes going something like this: Gen Chem, Physics, Orgo, Gen Bio...and they all are taught in a 1 year sequence, but do med schools/DO schools require anything in addition to this? I want to know because I am not a science major and have other classes that fill up my schedule.

Thanks in advance

Those sequences, with their associated labs, are the core science prerequisites. Some schools additionally require genetics, biochemistry, or calculus (or any combination thereof)

Most schools usually have an English/writing requirement as well. Some also have math/calculus requirements too. Others even have general humanities and/or social science requirements. Check out individual school websites or, even better, an MSAR to be sure.

if you're from texas or thinking about applying to schools there, you need two upper level biology courses as well

I'm not absolutely sure that any schools REQUIRE it, but statistics is a great choice. I know I've seen that it can substitute for a math pre-req in some cases, but if you want to be eligible for EVERY school you may need to take a full year of calculus. But regardless, take stats. Despite the fact that it was the most boring lecture I've EVER had, the actual content was extremely valuable and honestly pretty simple.
