What can you discuss when a school asks you why you like their med school?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Well I always made sure to find things in the curriculum i liked, communities they were in etc.

Don't think it's wise to mention the easy admissions standards

It's pretty easy to go through the school's website. I usually peruse through the "current students" section if not locked. These usually have info about student opportunities, programs, local community involvement, etc. I just plan to integrate those specifics with qualities listed in the school's mission statement

I also do a general search for recent posts about the school on SDN to look for leads on what I could possibly discuss.

If you do all that I'm sure you can convince people that you've been interested in the school since the neonatal days

"I want to be a doctor and I've heard of your school"

I don't know why they want you to play the game of looking up things on their website and regurgitate it back to them. You don't know anything about their school because you haven't attended yet.

Ikr? The only time I think this question is important is if you have some sort of personal connection with the school's hospital, like you or a family member has been a patient there for a serious illness and you can talk about that.

Look up the med school before your interview. Go to a page that says "mission statement" or whatever. Say that you really identify with the core values that your school tries to instill in its students and these values are the ones you hope to have as a doctor.
