Hi,
They have an MD/MBA (Master of Business Administration) program at East Carolina University Brody School of Medicine, I’m just curious as to what a physician would do with an MBA anyway?

private practice, leadership in a hospital, start a business, etc.

An MBA is of no use in private practice. many of the business skills needed in private practice (or any small business) - negotiating rents for office space, doing build-outs, etc, aren't covered in a typical MBA curriculum. Now, if you wanted to run or be an officer for a large business, then an MBA may be helpful

Private practice =/= small business. There are large, multi-specialty groups that are 100+ members, physician owned and run that are considered "private practice". Rest of your point I agree.

Also, there's an entire subforum answering this topic.

The ultimate end-goal would likely be hospital leadership, clinically oriented business leadership (e.g., CMO if an insurance agency), etc.

I agree with @michaelrack’s point that an MBA is wholly unnecessary apart from very large, multi-specialty practice situations.
